Forever Wild

License Plates

The Forever Wild Land Trust was created by a constitutional amendment in 1992 with the approval of 83% of the voters. It is part of the Ala. Department of Conservation, and exist only to buy and preserve lands as nature preserves, recreation areas, wildlife management areas and additions to state parks. Since 1992 Forever Wild has purchased over 85,000 acres of land to be preserved.

A new license plate was designed to help in this preservation effort. Before the license plates will be issued, 1000 vehicles must be registered with the Motor Vehicle Division. This has been accomplished and tags are expected to be available by late spring, 2003. The Friends of Forever Wild has paid the $50.00 fee and completed the required registrations for those who signed up for the new tag.

Friends of Forever Wild, with a substantial donation from the Alabama Chapter of the Sierra Club, has spent $50,000 and performed a great deal of work to get the tags to market. When this license plate is purchased, the Forever Wild Land Trust will receive a portion of the licensing fee. Thousands of dollars are expected to be raised in the coming years for land preservation.

Look for these attractive new design the next time you renew your tags and help preserve Alabama land.
